Ocean Park will be chiming in the Chinese New Year festivities at the 2019 International Chinese New Year Night Parade hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board on 5 February. Park Mascots Whiskers and Mark will be celebrating the New Year accompanied by 50 performers in nostalgic costumes, alongside the “Ocean Park’s Nostalgic Journey at Old Hong Kong” float that embodies a design inspired by Ocean Park’s iconic attraction Old Hong Kong Presented by Kee Wah Bakery.
Ocean Park’s float will transport the public back to 1970s Hong Kong, with nostalgic designs including old tenement buildings, archways and food stalls. Lanterns in the shape of Ocean Park’s signature cable car also adorn the float, as well as the Park’s local favourite eateries, namely Michelin-recommended Wing Lai Yuen, Michelin-recommended Street Food eatery Mammy Pancake, famous Hong Kong Style Milk Tea brand, KamCha and Cross Cafe. Whiskers and Mark will be joined by 50 performers down the parade route, including 30 student dancers from Island Dance School Hong Kong, performers in retro costumes, the Park’s giant inflatable animals and stilt stunt performers, as well as an energetic dragon dance performance mimicking the Park’s VR Mine Train.
