Ocean Park Mourns Victims of Lamma Ferry Accident Tomorrow

2012-10-03

(Hong Kong, 3 October 2012) At 12:00 noon tomorrow (4 October), Ocean Park will observe a three-minute silence in mourning for victims of the Lamma ferry accident.

During this period, all rides, shows and attractions in the Park will be suspended with the exception of the Cable Car and Ocean Express, which serve to commute guests between the Waterfront and Summit areas.

Meanwhile, the admission of guests through the Main Entrance turnstiles will temporarily pause for 3 minutes, and all parkwide announcements and music will also be stopped. Announcements about the three-minute mourning will be made at 10:30am, 11:00am, 11:30am and 11:55am to remind guests of the arrangements. Likewise, the tip boards throughout the Park will convey the same message to ensure our guests are aware of the significance of the memorial gesture.

Ocean Park Chief Executive, Tom Mehrmann, said, “As an integral part of the Hong Kong community, Ocean Park is devastated by the tragic result of the accident and would like to send our condolence to the victims’ families. Apart from the three-minute silence, the HKSAR flag located at the Park’s Main Entrance will be flown at half-mast for 3 days from 4-6 October, to remember the deceased victims.”
