From 16 to 25 February 2018, Ocean Park will present a series of Lunar Lucky Fiesta offerings with festive decorations, attractions and performances to celebrate the Year of the Dog. To drum up excitement for the New Year, Ocean Park has invited Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts Troupe from Taiwan to stage a spectacular performance that showcases the traditional culture of Taiwan’s temples. Ocean Park is also collaborating with YMCA FARM to hold a Lunar New Year bazaar with the theme of old Hong Kong, where guests can celebrate the Lunar New Year with a variety of nostalgic handmade products and classic Hong Kong-style street food.
After the fantastic daytime celebrations, there will also be plenty to keep guests entertained in the evening. For the first ten days of the Lunar New Year, Ocean Park will launch Ocean Park Chill Night Out, offering free night-time admission to the festive attractions at the Waterfront Plaza from 7pm to 11pm, as well as Old Hong Kong presented by Kee Wah Bakery, Lakeside Chill and Neptune's Restaurant. From being delighted by roving performances, shopping and snacking on street food at the Nostalgic New Year Bazaar night market, to feasting at Neptune’s Restaurant and perhaps a chance of meeting the God of Fortune, guests will enjoy a wonderful evening full of wholesome entertainment and authentic local flavour.
Celestial Lunar New Year Celebrations with Drums and Festive Attractions
Starting on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Waterfront Plaza will put on a festive new look with plenty of exciting offerings. Lucky dog sculptures and giant pinwheels at the Lunar Lucky Woof Garden are set to become guests’ favourite photo spots. Meanwhile, the God of Fortune and his little helpers will be giving out red packets at the God of Fortune Palace, while a visit to Peach Blossom Lane will bring good luck and good relationships to guests in the coming year.
At the Applause Pavilion, Taiwan’s Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts Troupe will present six Divine Drums Celebration shows in the day time to surround guests with eye-opening Taiwanese Folk Temple rituals through innovative stage productions. The powerful performances by highly skilled drummers and dancers, their colourful facial paints and costumes, coupled with a state-of-the-art LED backdrop, special visual effects as well as strong, unique drum rhythms, are guaranteed to blow the audience away. After enjoying this jaw-dropping show, children can have a try on the Chinese drums at Drummer Kids in Whiskers Harbour, where they can start the New Year by learning to master their vibrant sounds and drum up prosperity like a pro!
In addition, Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts Troupe will bring their temple parade show, Lunar Puppet Parade, to the Summit. Traditional giant puppets, accompanied by folk drums and music instruments, will dance their way from Polar Adventure to Thrill Mountain to spread luck and happiness. The parade will take place five times a day.
Nostalgic Day and Night Hong Kong-style Bazaar with Food and Merchandise to Bring Good Luck

On the first ten days of the Lunar New Year, booths will be set up to sell nostalgic handmade products produced by budding young designers, such as accessories, fabric art and Ocean-themed pressed flowers. As day turns to night, guests will also be able to walk around the bazaar in the evening while enjoying classic Hong Kong-style street food, including fish balls and pork skin in spicy sauce, rice noodles with minced pork and preserved turnips in pork broth, pan-fried minced fish dumpling with assorted vegetables, Kee Wah BBQ Pork Pastry and Phoenix Cookies.
