Halloween is not something exclusive to just you and me. The animal ambassadors at Ocean Park also enjoyed the all-day-and-night festive celebration in their own special way. The giant panda, Le Le, celebrated with his adorable pumpkins, carved in resemblance to his dear companion, Ying Ying, by the same team of famed American pumpkin sculptors led by the award-winning US sculptor Ray Villafane.
At the Rainforest, the world’s smallest primate, palm-sized marmosets also savoured spooky Halloween treats by digging mealworms out of the pumpkin treasure boxes specially prepared by the animal trainers at Ocean Park.
In addition to providing comfortable living environments mimicking the natural habitat of the animals, the Park’s animal trainers also take time to design a variety of enrichments to enhance the animals’ home and daily lives.
Apart from the all-day-and-night celebration, this year’s Halloween Fest also spans across the sky, land and sea. A skeleton-costumed scuba-diver swam in the Grand Aquarium with a pumpkin bucket full of tasty treats for the different species of fishes. Rather than showing any sign of apprehension of the diver’s unusual costume and props, the fish hustled up to the diver excitedly and create a scene that was truly fascinating.
This year, Ocean Park is presenting a number of revolutionary breakthroughs, which includes offering, for the first time ever, fun and scares all-day-and-night at the price of one regular ticket. In addition to the different festive attractions under the themes of “Intense Scares for the Brave” and “Lite Spooky Surprises”, the Park offers the Halloween Fest Premium Ticket and a new smartphone app, altogether giving guests added convenience and flexibility in planning their itinerary from day to night. To enhance its Halloween celebration from an iconic event in Asia to an international showcase of creativity, the Park brought famed American pumpkin sculptor Ray Villafane and his team to Hong Kong to demonstrate their renowned talent in pumpkin carving at the Pumpkin Creation Lab presented by Jetstar. So, remember to pop-in to Ocean Park on 31 October to celebrate Halloween with the animal ambassadors all day and night!
