Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland 2023

In 2023, Hong Kong Ocean Park will collaborate with cultural, nature conservation and scientific research institutions in the Mainland, including China Conservation and Research Centre for Giant Pandas, Wolong National Nature Reserve Administration in Sichuan and Laoshan Laboratory, to assist the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Government of the HKSAR in organizing two Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland, namely the "Youth Internship Programme at the Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan" and the "Youth Internship Programme at Shandong on Marine Sciences". The two programmes will provide diversified, distinctive and in-depth thematic internship opportunities, offering future career development. We hope to raise awareness of nature conservation and offer a platform for promoting cultural exchange between youths in Hong Kong and the Mainland.

The Wolong Programme will offer six-week internships in Wolong to 24 young people from Hong Kong and Guangdong in summer 2023. Internship positions include Field Researcher for Wildlife Conservation, Eco-tour Guide, Museum Narrator, Giant Panda Education Ambassador and Design and Content Developer. The programme aims to provide youth with professional training and practical work experience in nature conservation and ecotourism through thematic internship opportunities to enhance their future career development.

The Qingdao Programme will offer four-week internships in the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology to 16 young people from Hong Kong in summer 2023. Internship positions include Research Assistant on Oceanography and Climatology, Research Assistant on Marine Resources, Research Assistant on Marine Ecology and Conservation and Design and Content Developer. The programme aims to provide youth with professional training and practical work experience in marine science and research conservation through thematic internship opportunities to enhance their future career development.
